1. Oooh, you just MUST read American Wife if you’ve not yet. My fave by her by a long chalk. I read Eligible a month or so back and enjoyed it, but was slightly disappointed that it was — essentially — such a faithful modernisation. She’s so brilliant as her own writer, and I’m not sure how I feel about all these endless re-imaginings of the classics. I felt a bit disappointed when I read the first sentence and realised that’s what it was going ot be.

I enjoyed Sisterland, though also found it a little bit kooky… I’ve also recently read Prep and The Man of my Dreams, both of which were quite good, and have some moments of brilliant writing in, but nothing compared to the later books.

    • I guess I’d always known it was coming as a modernisation, so just thought it was such a good take on things. The characters made me smile so much. Really looking forward to reading the rest of her books!
