Dreamy green detox juice
Hello, I’m Siobhan from Bless The Weather. Thank you Katie for having me here! I’m just popping in briefly to share one of my favourite healthy recipes with you, and one that I thought would fit nicely with Katie’s theme of ‘what nourishes you’ – Dreamy green detox juice.
I’ve been juicing on and off for about eight years and I love it. I try my best to do it daily, but usually I manage around 3-4 times a week depending how busy I am. I really notice an improvement in my energy levels, and if I’m drinking juice regularly I find I get compliments on how shiny my hair looks or that my skin is glowing. I worked in a juice bar in my very early twenties, and I don’t think I’ve ever looked so healthy.
You will need a juicer for this recipe, but if you don’t have one already I can really recommend making the investment. The cheaper ones (like mine) are on the bulky and noisy side, but the more expensive ones are a lot smaller, quieter and easier to clean. They’re easy enough to pick up second hand as well, the spoils of waylaid New Year’s resolutions. The best bit about juicing is the endless combinations of fruits, veg and herbs you can use. If there’s an ingredient you don’t like, just don’t use it. This recipe is one of my favourites, it’s sweet and refreshing with a good kick of ginger and lemon. Go easy on the ginger if you’re not a fan, it packs quite a punch.
- 2 golden delicious apples
- Quarter of a lemon
- 2.5cm chunk of cucumber
- 1 celery stalk
- 2.5cm ginger root
- 5 mint leaves
Juice everything in a juicer, pour over ice and serve right away. The juice will start to separate if left, but just give it a quick stir before drinking it.
Yum, that sounds really refreshing. Thanks Siobhan! I love ginger, so would definitely keep that in there. If you’re looking to purchase a juicer, Amy had a recommendation for me in the comments on this blog post, which I’ll be getting when I get back from holiday next week!Keep in touch
